CBK Black Belt Gets A Haircut For Cancer
Woodbridge, ON --
Nov 18, 2009 --
Changing your hair style is usually a decision based on fashion. Most of us don't make too radical a move when deciding on a new look. Dylan Madeley, however, is not your typical person - he cut off all his shoulder-length hair in a day! But not for the sake of fashion, Dylan donated his hair to be made into wigs for children who lose their hair through cancer treatments.
Dylan, a black belt student and assistant instructor at Canada's Best Karate in Woodbridge, has been growning his hair for most of the year. While it sounds like an easy why to help others, there is a lot more to it than that. Dylan had to take extra care with is long locks to ensure that they would be in good shape and strong enough when they reached the desired length, about 10 inches.
Michael Suba, president of Continenal Hair which operates out of the Sunnybrook Regional Cancer Centre, is very grateful for donations like Dylan's. "It will go a long way in helping a child with medical hair loss. We could not help these kids in this special way without special people like Dylan."
