Canada's Best Karate students turn Bullies into Buddies
Mar 15, 2009 --

Most people know that martial arts training teaches people how to protect themselves when faced with physical conflict.  Many times, though, that conflict can be avoided with the proper preventative measures.  Students at Canada's Best Karate are learning how to deal with that common school yard occurrence - bullying - through a unique program called "Bullies To Buddies".

Bullies To Buddies is the creation of school psychologist Izzy Kalman, who has studied the true causes of bullying and has been promoting a simple, common sense approach to bullying based psychological principles and ancient wisdom for over ten years.  His teachings focus on teaching kids why they are being bullied and how they can virtually eliminate it with very little effort.

Scott Bullard, sensei and chief instructor at Canada's Best Karate, has been training with Kalman in order to incorporate the Bullies To Buddies principles into the martial arts self defence curriculum.  "One of the reasons why I like Mr Kalman's program so much is that it shows kids that they can control the outcome in various situations.  They don't have to feel like victims any more."

Canada's Best Karate was featured on Global TV News Hour for their bully-defence training.
