Teaching children to trust their intuition and to become aware of the lures that adults may use to abduct and/or assault them is the focus of a new program being offered by Canada’s Best Karate.  “The Journey of the Steal-Proof Master” program is a fantasy-based abduction prevention program for children ages 6-12 years.  Canada’s Best Karate is offering two seminars to the public, one on January 24^th and the other on January 31^st.

“Journey of the Steal-Proof Master” is an educational fantasy adventure film in which a wise, old wizard and his two apprentices lead the children on a pretend journey where they encounter the "Ten Evil Warriors".  Each evil warrior represents one of the ten common lures used by child predators.  Through character recognition and their own intuition, children are taught to recognize a dangerous situation and how to respond appropriately.  After watching the film, the children participate in role-playing and discussions, leading them to understand and anticipate the potential dangers of interactions with strangers, as well as friends and family members, who may mean them harm.
 

“Journey of the Steal-Proof Master” was created by Adventures In Safety; Canada’s Best Karate is the only licensed presenter of this program in Canada.  Scott Bullard is the owner and chief instructor of the two Canada’s Best Karate locations in Ontario offering this seminar.  “I was intrigued by the idea of capturing children’s attention through the use of fantasy.  After showing the program to my own children I was pleased and impressed by how much of the information they retained.”  Bullard adds, “Children who are taught stranger-danger techniques tend to forget the information or fail to recognize the lures in real-life situations.  The Steal-Proof Master program engages their imagination, which means that they are learning and retaining the skills.  Quite simply, they are safer.”

Now this ground breaking program is being offered at Canada's Best Karate schools for the first time in the Toronto area.  Scheduled dates for the next sessions are:

Saturday January 24, 1:00 - 2:30 pm (CBK Woodbridge location, 905.893.3342)

Saturday January 31, 1:00 - 2:30 pm (CBK Maple location, 905.879.8008)

The cost is only $10 for Canada's Best Karate members and $15 for non-members.  Attendance is limited to 20 children per session.  You can reserve a place by registering in person or by calling each location directly.
